Direct answer: Qintellim S-Series machines use one or more independently controlled S edge-rounding stations, each using rotary roller brush tooling. Choose this family when the main requirement is smoother, safer rounded edges on accessible external contours, holes or slots. Significant primary burr removal or surface grinding requires an R station, heavy-slag removal requires a C station, and surface brushing or polishing requires a W station.

Sheet Metal Applications

Edge Rounding Before Powder Coating, Painting or Assembly

Laser-cut and punched sheet metal parts may be burr-free but still have sharp edges. An S edge-rounding station uses rotary roller brush tooling to create a smoother radius on suitable external contours and accessible holes or slots. The required edge result must come from the drawing or downstream process and be confirmed by sample testing.

Edge rounding changes the mechanical edge geometry. It does not replace cleaning, chemical pretreatment, grounding, coating application, curing or final coating validation.

S and SS are the common one- and two-station model codes. Additional S stations can be configured by project to separate edge-rounding steps or use different rotary roller brush specifications, but SSS is not presented as a fixed standard model. Brush type, height or pressure setting and process route are determined by sample testing.

S-Series Selection Questions

What does S mean in a Qintellim machine code?

S means an edge-rounding station. The rotary roller brush is the tooling used by the station to create smoother, rounded edges.

Is an S station the same as a sanding-belt deburring station?

No. An S station is designed for edge rounding. Significant primary burr removal or surface grinding normally requires an R station using a sanding belt consumable.

Does the S station create a bevel?

No. The S station creates edge rounding or a controlled radius with rotary roller brush tooling. It is different from cutting a defined bevel.

Can an S station process holes, slots and internal contours?

It can process accessible features when the rotary roller brush can reach the edge and the workpiece can be conveyed securely. Drawings and samples are required for difficult geometry.

When should a buyer consider SS or additional S stations?

Additional S stations may separate different brush specifications or process steps. The value of a second or additional station must be demonstrated by the sample result and production requirement.

Can every material use a magnetic conveyor?

No. M is intended for suitable ferromagnetic parts. Non-magnetic materials normally require vacuum holding, while A-M provides separate magnetic and vacuum areas for mixed production.

Edge result and technical data change with the workpiece, brush tooling, station quantity, width, conveyor platform and auxiliary equipment. Approved values are stated in the technical proposal and on the machine nameplate.
